WUAHN, China, October 20, 2023 — Yami Solar, a leading global solar pump manufacturer, today announced a new partnership with international NGO WaterAid to install solar-powered water pumping systems in off-grid villages across Angola. This collaboration aims to sustainably deliver safe water access to over 20,000 people in drought-prone, water-scarce communities who currently rely on unsafe supplies.
Under the partnership, Yami will be supplying its robust helical rotor solar pump models to serve multiple remote villages in Angola. The solar pumps will extract clean groundwater and pump it into elevated storage tanks and distribution points accessible by all villagers. Compared to polluting diesel generators, the solar pumping systems will provide a reliable, low-maintenance water source powered entirely by renewable energy.
“We are honored to collaborate with WaterAid on this impactful humanitarian project using Yami’s solar pumping expertise,” said Miss. Liu, CEO of Yami Solar. “Together, we aim to significantly alleviate water poverty and improve health outcomes in rural Angolan communities. We believe everyone deserves access to clean water – and that a brighter future starts with sustainability.”
According to WaterAid, 38% of Angolans lack basic water services, a situation exacerbated by recurrent droughts. This solar water initiative aligns with Angola’s development goals of increasing rural clean water coverage and building climate resilience. Yami Solar and WaterAid both emphasize community participation, training locals to maintain the solar pump systems long-term.
“Partnerships like this demonstrate the vast potential of solar water solutions to change lives,” said Miss. Liu. “We are committed to leveraging our solar capabilities to drive lasting impact worldwide. This is only the beginning.”
